GeoModelPro came from a need for the Army Corps of Engineers to make standard digital cameras that surveyors are equipped with on the field more useful. While LiDAR does produce accurate point clouds for 3D model generation, there's a lack of support for 3D model generation for legacy equipment. Additionally, when surveying in hostile environments, speed and accuracy are key. Soldiers should be able to quickly capture an area of interest and be able to generate these models rapidly to allow for decision makers to make informed decisions with limited time constraints.
To address these limitations, ARO Corp developed GeoModelPro for ArcGIS Pro - a 2D to 3D modeling software that takes standard images or video of an object or area and outputs a 3D model in a universally utilized format. To adhere to the need for rapid modeling, we've included custom scaling to provide users with the ability to rapidly produce 3D models, often at speeds that greatly surpass the modern LiDAR approach. The Add-in is also easy to incorporate into your ArcGIS Pro projects, cutting out the need for online resources or manually downloading programs on your local system.
